How to Revamp Your Online Dating Profile for Fall

As the air starts to cool ever so slightly and the flyers for back to school sales begin to populate our inboxes, many of us are also looking for ways to spruce up our love lives for the upcoming season. Historically, Autumn is a time when online dating platforms see an uptick in new members and traffic. With Fall ahead of us, now is the perfect time to take a moment to revamp your online dating profile.

Here are a few things you can do to get ready for dating this fall.

  1. Switch out some of your photos.

Have you gone on any fun adventures this summer? Maybe you tried white water rafting or spent a week soaking up amazing architecture and food in Barcelona or did some amazing hikes. However you spent your summer, people like to see other people doing interesting things. Now is the time to show it off! Along with some clear photos of your face, include some fun action shots from your recent adventures.

It’s important to keep in mind that fall is a season that we associate with warmth and coziness (think: pumpkin spice and cuddles under cozy blankets). It’s also a time when people are more apt to be thinking of a long-term relationship. If all of your photos include bikini shots and shirtless selfies, it might be time to switch them out for something more fall appropriate. Don’t have any photos like this? Enlist the help of a friend to snap a few new pics.

  1. Get a friend to read through your online dating profiles.

Many of us don’t even know where to begin when it comes to talking about ourselves. The pressure to create the perfect online dating profile is so strong that we sometimes fail to mention some of the amazing things that make us so awesome as human beings. Our friends and family often know us better than we know ourselves (or at least are familiar with some of our positive traits that maybe we’re less than aware of). Have a friend or close family member take a look at your online dating profile. Does the write up seem like you? Are you putting your best foot forward? Did you miss anything? These are things that a second or third pair of eyes can help you answer so you can make the appropriate adjustments.

  1. Seek out a dating coach.

Bring in the big guns! If you feel like you’re struggling with dating or just want to boost your confidence, seek the help of a professional dating coach. From crafting a great first message to date-night conversation skills, a professional can figure out what your blocks or sticking points are and help you work through them. Yes, it’s an investment but you’re worth it (plus, this is a great option for people who don’t feel like they can go to their friends for help.)

  1. Plan a dating party.

Plan a get together with your buds where you can look over each other’s profiles and take a few new photos while enjoying some food and drink. As the saying goes, “it takes a village,” and there is nothing wrong with reaching out to your BFFs for a little help and moral support.
